Cistern Chapel was first created on the ceiling of the bathroom at Joe’s Shoe Store in Northcote, Australia. You can watch a video of the work being created here. The uncommissioned installation is part of a series of works that make use of existing graffiti to create new pieces, recontextualising the original graffiti.
I love the positivity of this piece, and have to give credit to whoever put up the original text on the ceiling at Joe’s. The placement is perfect and was a dream to work with.
This three-colour acrylic screenprint is limited to an edition of just 25. Each layer is hand-pulled across acid-free 300gsm lightly textured archival paper. The work measures 50cm x 70cm. This piece is sold unframed and shipped carefully rolled in a tube and with full insurance.
