A reimagining of my swinging girl, Ivy, and my first foray into jewellery, I am so excited to share Ivy in the Clouds. I developed these earrings over the course of 2024 with the help of a jewellery-maker from New York. These playful pieces show Ivy swinging from a cloud, and Ivy's very fine features are captured thanks to laser cut corrosion and a high polish finish. These stainless steel earrings come in two different colourways: gold or silver. The gold is plated in 14k gold. This open edition comes packaged in a House of Tom Whitty jewellery box.
I chose to make these earrings from stainless steel because it's both affordable and durable. Unlike softer metals, stainless steel is resistant to scratching and won't tarnish, meaning they will continue to look new for a long time with next to no maintenance. Stainless steel is also hypoallergenic, so these earrings are the perfect gift for someone with sensitive skin. And perhaps most importantly, stainless steel is an extremely environmentally friendly material. All packaging is also made from recycled and recyclable materials.
